Case 1: Lars, 75 years old

Lars, 75 years old, spent his life working in an aluminium workshop, where the rhythm of the machines and the craft of shaping metal defined his days for decades. In October 2023, he was hospitalised with a heart infarction and successfully treated with thrombolysis. During asymptomatic lung tumor was unexpectedly discovered, leading to a diagnosis of locally advanced NSCLC.

  • Medical history: smoked tobacco since he was 13
  • ECOG PS: 1
  • DLCO: 67%
  • No symptoms from his lung cancer
  • PET/CT scan: primary tumour of 49 x 25 mm in upper right lobe; lymph node metastases to 10R (24 mm) and 11R (40 mm)
  • TNM classification and stage: T2bN1M0; stage IIIA
  • Histology: Squamous cell carcinoma
  • PD-L1 expression: 2%
  • No other tests for biomarkers
